Air Fried Crispy Potatoes

The below is an easy recipe for a quick and healthy potato fry that was made by my Ninja Air fryer with very minimum oil. To know more about my Ninja and what she can do, please visit my blog titled “My dear Ninja“.

I am not able to remember what exactly I was cooking the other day – maybe some kind of a dal or sambar. But I was craving for potato fry (as always) to go with the dish and I asked Ninja if she can cook it for me and you all know she would never say no to me.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Potato slices/ strips
  • ½ tbsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Fennel powder optional
  • 1 tbsp Black pepper powder optional
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 ½ tbsp Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash the potatoes, cut them into thin slices or strips (like French fries). Rinse the cut pieces in cold water to remove starch, this helps from preventing the potato pieces from sticking to one another during cooking.
  2. Add chili powder, turmeric powder, fennel/ black pepper powder (optional), salt and 1 tbsp oil and mix well.  If you are adding black pepper powder, consider reducing the amount of chili powder to reduce the heat.

  3. Preheat Air Fryer to 390 degrees F for 4 mins, make sure you have placed the “Crisper” plate inside the ceramic coated basket.  “Crisper” plate comes with Ninja AF101 Air Fryer, for other models, use the plate or rack that comes with it.

  4. Spread the potato pieces within the basket or rack and cook in “Air Fry” mode for 390 degrees F for 4 mins. Open the air fryer and stir the contents with a wooden spatula. Continue cooking in the same temperature setting for another 4 mins.

  5. After about 8 mins of cooking, add ½ tbsp. oil and stir contents well and finish off cooking in same setting for an additional 2/3 mins or so. Increase cooking time if you want the fry to be more crispier.

Recipe Notes

  •   You can use conventional oven if you do not have an air fryer.
