Sometimes simplicity is best!
I am talking about the “Potato Chili Fry” dish which can be made in a jiffy and yet wins over million other dishes. And you pair it with rice, dal… wait a minute, did I say rice with plain dal and potato fry and homemade ghee and mango pickle and a papad? Come on, I leave it to you to put all the adjectives to describe this simple, yet the best comfort food combination ever. But wipe the drool off your chin first!

Potato Chili Fry
Very simple, but a great side dish to go with rice and plain dal!
Ingredients
- 4 Boiled potatoes cut into cubes without skin
- 1/2 tbsp Chili powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp Oil
Instructions
-
Mix potato cubes, chili powder, turmeric powder and salt.
-
Heat oil in a wide non-stick pan and roast the potatoes in slow flame for about 5 to 10 mins until desired roasting consistency/ crispiness is reached.
-
Serve hot with rice and plain dal!
Recipe Notes
- To save time/ effort, you can pressure cook potato along with dal. Wait for the pressure to release naturally. I love the texture of the boiled potatoes cooked this way...
